For those that request their prescription be sent to a local pharmacy then the time will be dependant on that pharmacy. Please contact the relevant pharmacy for an indication of the timescale.
Dispensary
Fleggburgh Surgery provides a dispensary that enables all eligible patients (patients living 1 mile or more away from a Pharmacy) to collect all medications prescribed by the GP.
The dispensary is closed 13:00-14:00.
We are part of the Medicine Support Services Link to provide medicine dosette boxes.
We offer a delivery service for patients who are completely housebound or who have weekly dosette boxes. Delivery is on a Friday morning.
We provide dressings and medications prescribed by the district nurses.
We undertake reviews of patients medication compliance. If you have been advised by the surgery that your review is due, please use our Medication Review form.
Collection Points
Patients can either collect their prescription from the surgery or a chemist of their choice.
If you live within 1 mile of the surgery you can collect your prescription from the surgery.
In order for prescriptions to be collected from a chemist, patients need to register for the Electronic Prescription Service.
Information About our Prescriptions System
Orders for Methotrexate and Warfarin
These must be ordered directly with the surgery. Please do not use the online systems for these.
Prescriptions Lost in the Post
Unfortunately we cannot accept responsibility for prescriptions lost in the post or by the chemist.
Medication Required Urgently
This will be dispensed on request or a prescription will be issued to take to a pharmacy, by contacting the dispenser on duty.
Prescription Fees
View the cost of prescriptions on the NHS website.
You can also find out if you are entitled to free prescriptions at www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/help-with-health-costs/get-help-with-prescription-costs.
Good Medication Management is Important
Please preempt ordering prescriptions to avoid medication running out.
If you are given 56 days of tablets and you have 7 days left, order your new prescription. In the case of any emergency your regular pharmacist will give you a couple of tablets until you get your new prescription.
It is good practice that repeat medication is regularly reviewed so that you get optimum care.
If you are going on holiday you should take a list of your medication with you.
If you have elderly relatives ensure that they have an adequate supply of their medication. Dosette boxes/blister packs can be arranged if they have a large amount of medication to take.
Useful Information
Each drug has two names – the generic and the brand name. Where possible we use the generic name because this is usually much cheaper for the health service. Due to this, you may notice a change in colour, shape or size of your drug. Do not be concerned by this, you are still receiving the same drug of the same quality, it is only the appearance that has altered.
Please request your medications review appointment at least 10 days before your medication runs out.
